EGP Seasons 2000 to 2009

European Grand Prix 2001

The Italian stage of the 2001 EGP was held in Naples for the first time.

The 2001 EGP season was the start of a rapid expansion with 7 new stages added over the following 8 years.  The "Amsterdam Open" (held in the southern suburb of Amstelveen in the initial years) was the first new stage added and would soon set new attendance records with over 60 participants.

As the EGP became a 6 tournament circuit the rules were changed to take into account the best four tournament scores for the total (rather than just the best three).

Takuji Kashiwabara of France won his very first EGP title in 2001.
