About the World Othello Federation
The World Othello Federation (WOF) is a federation of countries that seeks to promote the game of Othello.
The World Othello Federation organises the World Othello Championship every year, provides the WOF rating list, helps nations organise tournaments and, if needed, contacts sponsors.
The main gathering of the World Othello Federation is the WOF annual meeting, which is held at the same time as the World Othello Championship.
WOF History
The first Othello tournament was the Japan Othello Championship in 1973. Four years later, in 1977, the first World Othello Championship (WOC) was held. There were only five nations at the first WOC. In 2005 the World Othello Federation was founded in Reykjavik, Iceland. Twenty-two nations founded the World Othello Federation (WOF). By the time of the 2016 annual meeting in Tokyo, the World Othello Federation had almost 70 member nations!
