The first years 1977 - 1986
The first World Othello Championship (WOC) was held in 1977 in Tokyo. From 1977 to 1994, one player from each country was invited to the WOC, specifically each country’s national champion.
The players had their travel to the WOC, hotel, and subsistence covered by the local Othello licensees in each country.
The WOC was planned to be held every 10th year in Japan and the USA, while in the other years, it was organized in Europe, where the largest number of active players resided. During these years, the WOC was arranged by the companies Anjar Co. and Tsukuda Co.
This page is under construction. WOC 1977, 1978 & 1979 is online with Standings and Articles. 1980 - 1986 is updated with Standings.
